BIJOU SALON TRAVERSE CITY SERIES
Show times are listed on their website and tickets can be bought in advance.A series of free films are the newest addition to the lineup of the ninth annual Traverse City Film Festival (TCFF), founded by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Michael Moore. The Bijou has an agreement with the City of Traverse City that specifies Bijou guests are not allowed to park in the Clinch Park Marina lot as an FYI. Metered parking is free Monday through Saturday before 8 am and after 6 pm, and on Sundays and holidays. Use the underground tunnel to cross under the Parkway. There are 10 hour meters adjacent to Grandview Parkway and four-hour meters on both sides of the island. The best place to park while visiting the Bijou is in the Sara Hardy Farmers Market parking lot. They are pretty easy to fine if one looks. The Bijou also features large scale murals showcasing Lake Michigan shores on which it sits along with several "easter eggs" relating to classic films and local history that are hidden within the murals. The building was a 1930 Works Project, built as the Conn Foster Museum.
BIJOU SALON TRAVERSE CITY PLUS
Much like the State Theatre - the Bijou has affordable prices, friendly volunteers, a high tech digital projection and sound system plus its own unique charm and an intimate feel. The Bijou is a great draw to downtown and another great venue for the TC Film Festival. The Bijou is built to the same standards as its sister screen, the State, which is just a block away on Front Street. It's a 150-seat theater in a cool City park (Clinch Park and Marina) on Grand Traverse Bay, it's also next to the TART Trail. Initially we thought it a bit more inconvenient than the State, it's a little bit farther if you are eating dinner in town but worth the walk or drive. (Set up as a non profit so prices on everything are reasonable) We love this comfortable little theatre.

Michael Moore gave TC another gift with this movie house.
